Earlier this year, the NCAA and Power 5 confernces reached a historic settlement known as the House Settlement. The House Settlement is the result of a case known as House v. NCAA. Under the settlement, the NCAA and Power 5 conferences have agreed to pay over $2 billion in damages for loss NIL opportuntities. The settlement also opened the door to allow colleges and universities to share revenue with their athletes. These changes also led to the creation of two new entities in college sports. One of those is the College Sports Commission (CSC). The other is the NIL Go platform

What is the College Sports Commission?

The College Sports Commission (CSC) is a new organization charged with overseeing certain provisions of the House Settlement. Those provisions are revenue sharing, roster limit requirements, and the new NIL deal reporting platform, NIL Go. The College Sports Commission is an independent entity from the NCAA although the two organizations work together in some areas. The two organizations oversee different areas. The College Sports Commission is responsible for ensuring compliance with rules resulting from the House Settlement. The NCAA is responsible for enforcement matters such as the rules of the game, academic and athletic eligibility, and sports betting. The College Sports Commission also works with Deloitte on NIL Go.

What is NIL GO?

NIL Go is the new NIL deal clearinghouse. Per the terms of the House settlement, NIL deals that in the aggregate have a value of $600.00 must be disclosed and reported to the NIL Go platform to ensure that the deal is based on “fair market value” and is for a valid business purpose rather than “pay-for-play” disguised as NIL. Beginning on June 11th, deals were reported to NIL Go. As of August 2025, 23,200 athletes have regiested on NIL Go. 1,100 institutions have registered to use NIL Go. Since NIL Go’s launch, per the College Sports Commission more than 5,100 deals have been cleared by NIL Go. The value of those deals range from $600.00 to $1.5 million dollars. The CSC plans to release NIL Go data in September.
