I am excited to announce that I will be covering the Washington Mystics this WNBA season for the Bowie TV Sports Network. This season is sure to be an exciting one as the WNBA prepares for record attendance and viewership due to the excitement around this year’s WNBA Draft Class. This year’s draft was viewed by a record 2.45 million viewers. The Washington Mystics drafted UCONN basketball star, Aaliyah Edwards whose UCONN team made it to the Final Four in the NCAA’s March Madness tournament. The draft class also included Baltimore native, Angel Reese, who was drafted by the Chicago Sky. The number 1 Draft pick was Caitlin Clark who was drafted by the Indiana Fever.
WNBA fans are eagerly waiting to see what impact the league’s new stars will have on it. The WNBA is experiencing record ticket sales. In fact, WNBA ticket sales are up 93 percent from last season. Ahead of the WNBA Draft, the 2 time reigning champs, The Las Vegas Aces, became the first team in WNBA history to sell out their season tickets. Several teams including the Washington Mystics have made plans to play some games in larger arenas to accommodate the new fan interest. This season is sure to be an exciting WNBA season. The Mystics' first preseason game is on Saturday, May 4th against the Atlanta Dream. Follow me for the latest on the Washington Mystics and the 2024 WNBA season.
